Louisville, Ky. (February 7, 2024) - ASM Global-managed Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center will host its most competitive high school indoor track meet in venue history this weekend when Eastern Indoors returns February 9-10.

The goal of Eastern Indoors is to bring together the best high school athletes from across the United States to compete at one of the nation's newest and fastest indoor track facilities - Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. Eastern High School's track and cross country program is no stranger to attracting top talent to their events. In addition to Eastern Indoors, the program also hosts Louisville's premiere regular season outdoor track meet, Eastern Relays, and cross country invitational, Louisville XC Classic, each year. 

"We have seen so much growth in the sport of indoor track & field over the past 12 months, and with that growth comes a much higher level of competition," said Norton Healthcare Sport's & Learning Center's Assistant General Manager Marcus McAlpin. "Coaches and athletes have taken notice of the fast times produced inside our facility and are lining up to compete. Our team is excited to witness history being made this weekend as we expect a large number of record breaking performances and we encourage the community to come out and watch these elite performances."

While Friday's competition is open to all high school athletes and will feature some elite middle schoolers as well, Saturday's events have entry requirements based on past performances and a select number of athletes in each event make the cut to compete. While this year's final performance list includes some of the nation's most elite athletes, the girl's 800 is set to be the premiere event of the day with the level of talent entered. The boys 800 is a close second with 32 boys entered at under two minutes. 

DC Timing President David Flaughers has timed a majority of the races since the venue opened and he’s anticipating a number of impressive performances.

"Looking at the entries, this meet has the potential to rewrite many of the high school facility records. It is loaded from top to bottom," said Flaughers.
