Having a reputation as one of the fastest indoor track facilities in the United States, the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center is home to many of the top performances each season and expects to see some of those performances this weekend.

This is the third consecutive year the venue has hosted the HBCU Indoor Classic, Presented by Humana through a partnership with Kentucky State University and the Louisville Urban League. The event has grown to include 14 Historically Black Colleges and Universities including: Central State, Denmark Tech, District of Columbia, Fisk, Kentucky State, Langston, LeMoyne, Miles, Mississippi Valley, Philander, Prairie, Talladega, Tuskagee and West Virginia State. This year, the event will feature a 60 meter dash for elementary and middle school athletes to find the Fastest Kid in the Ville. This not only gives young athletes an opportunity to compete but also gives them exposure to college athletes who could help them build a stronger passion and commitment to the sport.

"We are extremely excited about the growth of the HBCU Indoor Classic," Meet Organizer Tim King said. "This is a testament to facility and the mission of the Louisville Urban League."

Due to the successful start to the season, Tim King also decided to add the Coaches Classic high school meet to give high school athletes another opportunity to compete. The meet attracted more than 550 athletes in a short period. Coaches James and Rita Holeman of Male High School will be honored at the meet for their impact on numerous athletes and the sport of Track & Field.

"This is our busiest weekend during the 2023/24 indoor track season to date and our team has been working diligently to prepare the venue so fans and athletes have a great experience," Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center Assistant General Manager Marcus McAlpin said.

One of the unique features of the facility is an indoor fun zone where fans can take a break between races and enjoy duckpin lane bowling, interactive rock climbing and a great selection of food and beverage.
