After a record-breaking season that saw a significant increase in the number of teams participating in meets at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center, the top 24 Kentucky high school athletes in each track event this season will compete for a state title at the facility.

"We could not be more excited to contest our inaugural Indoor State Track Meet at the beautiful Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center," said KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett. "The staff at the center and our partners with the KTCCCA and MileSplit have worked round the clock with our own staff and our school representatives and coaches to help give these great athletes a chance to shine. We look forward to this being the start of a great partnership!"

The KHSAA made a decision to become the 12th state reporting to the National Federation of State High School Associations to have a sanctioned state Indoor Track championship during a board meeting in 2023. Previously, the KTCCCA had hosted a state championship for Kentucky high schools but this will be the first ever KHSAA-sanctioned event with qualifying standards in every event.

"It has been a pleasure to work with the KHSAA and their team to prepare for this special meet, and we are grateful for their support of the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center," said ASM Global Assistant General Manager Marcus McAlpin. "While the facility has attracted high-profile athletes from all over the country this season, we are excited the KHSAA is bringing together many of the most talented local track & field athletes to compete for their first ever KHSAA state title. We've gained the reputation as one of the fasted indoor tracks in the nation and we hope to see some incredible performances this weekend."
