Açaí-Ville Café Brings Healthy Eating and Hope to West Louisville with Grand Opening at Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center LOUISVILLE, KY — August 29, 2025 — Açaí-Ville Café, the first açaí bowl café in West Louisville, will celebrate its grand opening on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 10 a.m., at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. Founded by West Louisville natives April Rouson Walton and Laquan Walton, the café is more than a business—it's a mission to bring healthy food options to the community that raised them. Born and raised just blocks from the new café, April and Laquan’s connection to West Louisville runs deep. "We wanted to give back to the place that raised us," said April Rouson Walton, Co-Founder of Açaí-Ville Café. "West Louisville deserves access to healthier food options. It's about creating a movement that uplifts our community with every bowl we serve." Laquan Walton echoed her sentiment, emphasizing the personal nature of the venture. “Every street and every school here holds a memory for us. We wanted to invest in our people by introducing something fresh, healthy, and filled with love. Our bowls are more than food—they’re a reminder that we deserve wellness in our own neighborhood.” The opening of Açaí-Ville Café also highlights a growing movement of Black-owned businesses within the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. Sadiqa Reynolds, Founder and President of the complex, shared her excitement for the new business. “I absolutely love Açaí-Ville’s fruit bowls. They are fresh, vibrant, and delicious—but what I love most is these two people," Reynolds said. "April and Laquan are not just building a café; they are building community, health, and hope. That’s the kind of entrepreneurship our city needs, and we are proud to welcome them into the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.” Reynolds also noted the cafe's alignment with the complex's mission to support local entrepreneurs, highlighting that Açaí-Ville will be one of three thriving Black-owned businesses operating under the roof, alongside Chicago’s Jerk Tacos and Sow Journey. The grand opening will take place at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center, located at 3029 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd, Louisville, KY 40212. The event is open to the public and all community members, elected officials, local leaders, and supporters are invited to celebrate with the Walton family.
